AJAX, ON – March 2,
2010 – Volkswagen Canada announced today that it
again increased sales for a second month by 63.9%
for a total of 2,821 new vehicles (2009: 1,721).
Volkswagen credited its higher sales to its recently
introduced new Golf Family, including the 2010
Canadian Car of the Year, the Golf GTI by the
Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).
Other Volkswagen models enjoyed rising sales during
the month, including the Tiguan (+78.5%), new Golf
(+ 348%), and Jetta Sedan (+92.3%).
These higher sales continued the solid start in 2010
with the rise in the Volkswagen Brand's share of the
total Canadian light vehicle market to 2.81% (2009:
2.14%) as industry figures showed an increase of
24.9% against February 2009.
TDI Clean Diesel sales represented 26.4% of total
Volkswagen deliveries in February 2010.
